Kiwanis Music Festival Guest Performers

Mary Marget MacInnes introduced the Jonathan who was accompanied by Sonia and Cait. Jonathan grew up in Orangeville where he began studying the piano at age 3 and the trumpet at age 8. Later he decided to focus entirely on the trumpet and joined the Hannaford Youth
Program at 18 where he won their “Rising Stars Solo Competition”. This win gave him a scholarship and a performance with the Hannaford Street Silver Band, Canada’s only professional brass band.
Jonathan is currently studying in his second year of Music Performance at the University of Toronto. He started with the Wind Ensemble, but this year graduated to the main Orchestra.
In 2012, Jonathan was the First Place Winner of the:
- Toronto Festival Senior Brass Trophy,
- Ontario Music Festival Brass Trophy
- The National Music Festival Brass Trophy
Jonathan plans to participate in the Kiwanis Music Festival again this year, both as a soloist and a chamber musician.
