Anduhyaun and Nekenaan

2019-20 – Winter Campaign

For the second year the Kiwanis Club of Kingsway-Humber provided $2,000 to support Anduhyaun’s Winter Campaign.   The funding will be used to purchase new mattresses, bed linen, towels,  winter items including coats and boots, food and other essentials for families living in Anduhyaun’s Emergency Shelter and Nekenaan  a transitional Second Stage Shelter for indigenous women and their children fleeing violence and homelessness.      In the photo…(middle) is Amanda Bahadur, Program Coordinator.

A big Thank You to General Manager Katherine Pucci at Staples at 1750 The Queensway, Etobicoke for supplying over $1000 of Staples products – backpacks and school supplies for the 2019 back to school year.  Also a big thank you to Tania from Staples who helped club members Gill and Andre Dugas find the items, and totally made the project run so smoothly.

All the staples bags and school supplies were of the highest quality and some of the items will certainly last for several years.

2018-19 Winter Campaign

Andhyaun June 20 2019
The Kiwanis Club of Kingsway-Humber presented Jannie Le, Program Coordinator, of Anduhyaun and Nekenaan Indigenous Women’s Shelters with our cheque for $2,000.

When families leave Anduhyaun/Nekenaan they are allowed to take all their donated items therefore our funding came at the perfect time to allow new bed linens,  blankets, coverlets, pillows, protectors along with towels and kitchen items to be provided to the new families.   At the same time our funding will go towards underwear, winter clothing and other essentials to set the families up for their new start in the shelter which includes new schools.  The rest of our funding will support all the families in both shelters including new mattresses and food also children’s packed lunches.
