Newcomer and Refugee Support
Friday, January 3rd, The Kiwanis Club of Kingsway-Humber was the main sponsor for the Refugee and Newcomer Welcome Dinner at Rexdale Alliance Church. A total of over 220 parents and children along with volunteers enjoyed an event of friendship and celebration. Refugees and Newcomers who have been settled in North Etobicoke for several years took the main role in cooking and serving the dinner to share with more recent arrivals to Canada.
The children enjoyed receiving gifts along with playing crafts and watching videos. Donors also provided take away bags for each family with gifts and food. A local group performed Arabic songs. President Stuart along with Gillian and Andre helped set up the event, serve the food and do kitchen clean up. This was a special celebration of families living together in Etobicoke and all the thanks we received was very touching.
