About Us

KIWANIS CLUB OF KINGSWAY HUMBER

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world for children and their community.  We are always looking for new members – people who are passionate about giving back to the community – locally or the world at large.

The Kiwanis Club of Kingsway Humber was established in 2004 through the amalgamation of two clubs: Kingsway and Humber Valley.  Both clubs had a rich and impressive history of community service for over 60 years.

The “new” club continues to work with others in the community and our members are personally involved in helping to make this a better world for everyone.

The Kiwanis Club of Kingsway Humber provides financial support to community partner organizations (Sleeping Children Around the World, CNIB, Dog Guides Canada, Youth Without Shelter, UNICEF, Kiwanis Music Festival, Wounded Warriors, Arts Etobicoke, CEES) and many others and also provide leadership opportunities for children and teenagers through Kiwanis school clubs such as Key Club (high school) and Circle K Club (university).

The Kiwanis Club of Kingsway Humber holds lunch meetings with an organized program including a speaker offering an atmosphere of learning, fun and fellowship on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at the Old Mill Restaurant.

In addition to attending these meetings, Club volunteers assist each month with Kiwanis Service Projects. These have included:

  • Sponsoring breakfast programs
  • Promoting literacy through reading programs in schools around the world
  • Financially supporting youth sport (baseball and hockey teams)
  • Responding to disasters (Haiti/Africa)
  • Financial donations to Kiwanis International’s HIV/AIDS project
  • Sponsoring community dinners
  • Providing backpacks to students
  • Supporting blood clinics and food banks
  • Painting projects at shelters
  • Creating baskets of household items for women/families in shelters
  • Clothing drives
  • Purchasing gifts for seniors at Christmas
  • Fundraising projects
  • Providing toiletries and take-away food containers to community outreach projects.

A Kiwanis Club is a snapshot of its community, with members from many walks of life and at every stage of the career ladder.    They are united in their belief that children and their communities benefit from the efforts of a proficient group of caring, like minded volunteers.
