Kiwanis Club of Kingsway Humber presented $2,000 to Lina Almenzen, Resource Manager for Women’s Habitat of Etobicoke, to provide essentially needed financial help to support for their 3 youngest residents – one being only 2 months – as these three youngsters represent approximately 1,042 diapers and 20 containers of formula per month along with other requirements. Women’s Habitat’s request was met by our club within two weeks much to the relief of the shelter.

Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019Kiwanis Club of Kingsway Humber provided $7,000 to Michael Power High School Marching Band to purchase instruments for their newly assembled marching band. This significant gift made it possible to purchase several key instruments for the newly formed and already popular band.
Support for Ontario POPs Orchestra
Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019Kiwanis Club of Kingsway Humber provided $2,000 to sponsor 4 youth musicians in the Ontario POPs Orchestra. The POPs Orchestra provides opportunities for students from local high schools to play throughout the year. Other young POPs Etobicoke musicians attend the University of Toronto.
Haven on the Queensway Donation – March 2019

Kiwanis Club of Kingsway Humber provided a cheque for $3,000 to Heather Fullerton, Director of Development at Haven on the Queensway Community Centre. Two thousand will go to providing much need care and supplies to expectant mothers and new parents who come to Haven for support. Haven’s First Care Program provides a basket full of diapers, formula, bottles, bath, blankets and baby clothing along with literature and follow up counselling for families in their program. Families in the First Care Program may seek continuing help from Haven. One thousand will go to ensure that each child that comes to Haven’s Food Program from birth to age 16 will receive one litre of milk each week.
Backpacks / Supplies for Anduhyaun and Nekenaan Women’s Shelters
Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019A big Thank You to General Manager Katherine Pucci at Staples at 1750 The Queensway, Etobicoke for supplying over $1000 of Staples products – backpacks and school supplies for the 2019 back to school year. Also a big thank you to Tania from Staples who helped club members Gill and Andre Dugas find the items, and totally made the project run so smoothly!
All the staples bags and school supplies were of the highest quality and some of the items will certainly last for several years.
